I have a general electric mercury arc rectifier tube still in the original crate and I am trying to find the value can anyone help.

They appear sufficiently rarely that value is impossiible to judge. Location is important as shipping things wiith mercury counts as hazardous materials in most countries, and you can't airfreight it (mercury eats aluminium apparently).
I get asked this occasionally due to my MAR page, but I've yet to find an answer as to whether the value of scrap mercury is more or less than the hazardous waste disposal cost.
