A Question About Litz Wire....

I know about the skin effect and proximity effect in reguards to frequency, math and physics.
But my question is -- is Litz wire needed for pulsing DC circuits?

With no reverasal of current and its related magnetism, it still seems like litz should be used in both Hi Freq AC and pulsing DC, but I havent found any sources yet that explicitly say so.


Any help? thank you.

In pulsed DC you still have a quickly changing current, thus you still have the changing magnetic field which gives rise to skin effect.

Yes from the math and physics it seem to be based on the rates of change as the deciding factor, so it should be just as applicable to proximity effect i believe.

Should still affect it. Fundamentally, because pulsed DC is just AC with a DC offset, so the DC component will be unaffected but the AC component will be affected. Mathematically, this is because V=L di/dt so it is a more "resistive" path at the center of the wire for any changing current, be it AC or DC as Mattski referenced to.

excelllent, now i dont have to worry about over spec'ing parts, ive got justifications now.
