I'm trying to figure out how they did this.. It seems like the easy way would have to use batteries that are charged by the pedaling and then in turn driving inverters, in which case ceasing to pedal would not stop the music tho so maybe they are doing something else. .,

Is it possible to build a power supply that can accept a wildly varying input like that which would be created with pedaling a generator yet output a consistent voltage at enough current for an inverter? Thanks

Yes, switchmode power supplies can be constructed to provide constant output voltages with varying input voltages. So can linear regulators in fact, but they can't do so in any efficient manner. At some location battery storage would probably be used because neither the supply nor demand of electrical power is likely to be constant.

The practical side to sound reinforcement for a band doing a show would include the number of people that have bought tickets and if was indoors or out. They did however promote the clean sin inverter. I think a human can pedal 90 watts or so for a short period. A far better approach towards green power is to play music with less energy density.
