Hello,
I am building an apparatus to measure corona discharge in an N2/O2 mixture. To produce the discharge, I will have a power supply putting out ~15 kV and a high voltage resistor to reduce the current to the micro to milliamp range. My question is, how can I effectively measure the current? Can I use a high voltage probe, and just directly hook it up to an ammeter that measures down to microamps? I'm not interested in building any extremely complicated setup. I have a pretty open budget, so if it's easier to buy something commercial rather than build it, I would most likely go for that.

Buy a cheap analog multimeter and put it in series with the cell at the ground connection?
PS. you are going to be burning ~99% of your power in the ballast resistor ... if the HV connections are in air you are going to be losing current through there though, so knowing the current in the cell won't tell you how much power you're putting into it (cause you won't know the voltage across it).
