I found a simple class A amplifier schematic on the internet, and built it on a breadboard. Link2

I did modify the circuit a little bit. Instead of using the mosfet shown, I beefed it up a bit, and used a 28N50F mosfet, and a pretty decent sized heatsink.

I also removed the 22 - 100 ohm resistor on the top part, and changed the 1 meg ohm resistor to a 10k ohm resistor. I also increased the audio capacitor (the .1 uF one) to .27 uF for more bass.

It works great, surprisingly enough. Gets rather warm, but that's what class A amplifiers are supposed to do!

Is it a amplifier? You know it has a sub 1 gain wink

does it respond to a 1Hz input signal?

For further modifications I would take a LM317 in a CCS configuration and use it instead of R2. It will work as am excellent dynamic resistance and it will get allot easier to distribute heat with a TO220 package.
It is also a cheap solution.
