I got a whole bunch of 7-segment displays, sitting around with nothing to do. What should I make with them?

Because I haven't any ideas what to make...

There's a circuit project in a project book I have that is a reaction timer. If you want, PM me and I will send you the schematic.

You can also display some characters not sure how many, but not all the letters on 7 segment displays, you could make a decoder to convert the ascii hex value to lit segments which allows you to display some short words.

Or a count down timer in seconds minutes hours or whatever to remind you of the time left to an upcoming event, like a party or Holladay ect.

Make a millisecond timer with ridicules many ciffers, have it with with a battery as backup and just use it as wall art.

You could use a cascade counter as the 4017

The most fun with seven segment displays was programming and using primitive microprocessors
like the 1802 using a hexadecimal keypad, 256 bytes of memory, and no battery backup..

This is an exercise in self control and refraining from profanity when the program eats itself
while running because of a FFn entry mistyped.
