Puzzle electronics teacher gave us.

In the puzzle, we are given 4 lights, two DPDT switches, and a battery. We cannot use any other material except wires. Our job is to let any three bulbs be on at any given time, but the one that is off changes with each position of the switch. iE

I gave up on it because I couldn't figure it out. :P

Well you can always connect everything to a breadboard and connect everything in different ways until it works :P

it isn't physical, its a program, but I tried that for about two full class periods, and at home I cannot find a good program or I only have one physical DPDT switch

It is similar to how a dpdt switch puts a DC motor into reverse.
There's a clue.

If you start by wiring one side of all the lamps to –ve, and all the switch commons to say +, Then you have 8 contacts from all the switches then you can parallel one contact from switch A with one contact from switch B, so that bulb 1 is on when SW A is off or SW B is off (actually in it’s other position) Bulb 2 is on when SWA is also off or SW B is on this time.

If you get all the connections paired up the right way their should be one condition that is not satisfied for a bulb to be lit for every combination of SW A and SW B, and you will have the sequence you want.
