I hope the 6 "vintage" flyback transformers i just won on ebay are the AC type. Some bastard outbid me at the last second for my last try at 8 AC type. I hate ebay more and more each time i use it. If it looks like an ac flyback (large area core, pancake coil, not a big block of epoxy) then it probably is an ac flyback or could easily be made into one. if the coil is taller than it is wide, then it probably isn't an AC one. But that's just judging from my knowledge of flyback style transformers, which spans a small time frame.

get 2 LEDs and wire them in anti-parallel (similar to parallel but anode to cathose and cathode to anode). then power it up with a FBT 1 led on = DC 2 leds on = AC
