I found this GTO type SCR. And if i'm correct, they can be turned off with a second trigger pulse and work like IGBT's.
I imagine that these SCR's would be perfect for coilgunning. What do you think?

No, GTO's are turned off by sucking all of the anode current out through the gate. This isn't easy, and is why people have moved on to IGBT's and MOSFETs for inverters.
