Yes I am aware of the "no pseudoscience" rule, however on this occasion it is more useful to explain:-

a) How Rossi's device can be generating significant levels of power, given that there is clear evidence of isotopes of copper
which cannot have been generated apart from a nuclear process,

b) How this device is being rigged to generate apparent energy gain but in actuality is not.

Any ideas?

I'm thinking some sort of wireless power source?

The verification of the device you link to is a disgrace, they only verify a few parameters, they don't even check the properties of the "water". For all we know it could be 90% Hydrogen Peroxide.

As it stands now any ideas would be pure speculation and that is really off topic for a scientific discussion. Yes I moved the thread from the chatting forum because the rules cleary states "Don't use the chatting board as a crutch. If your thread involves the topics covered by the more specific boards on the forum, don't post it in the chatting board to avoid having to follow certain rules."

They also state "Free energy, electrogravitics, and all other types of pseudoscience are not allowed on any part of this site, nor are links to sites that deal primarily with these subjects."

I was prepared to keep an open mind about Rossi's claims until the annoucement of the 1 MW generator to be built within months.

This fantastic claim would be just as unbelievable were it to be made about any large conventional industrial chemical plant, and shows that Rossi has absolutely no idea how the ideas of industrial chemists are transformed into a great steaming spaghetti of stainless steel pipe, hissing towers, and oozing lakes of hazardous waste.

Rossi's first stop should have been a firm of chartered chemical engineers, whose first step would be to construct a pilot plant of, say, 50kW to study all that is needed to create a viable, efficient industrial process out of a laboratory prototype. Rossi would have to consult land agents over the purchase of land in a zone approved for chemical plant, and obtain planning permission for his plant. The site would have to be inspected by surveyors, geologists and antiquities inspectors, (Greece!) cleared, a road constructed, and reinforced concrete foundations laid by men in yellow hats responsible to a Clerk of Works... all sorts of government inspectors would descend daily on the site, all expecting to be lavishly entertained. Could all that hydrogen be delivered by road in the EU, or would Rossi have to build his plant with its own railway spur line, or perhaps a dock to have the hydrogen delivered by sea? And then there's his hydrogen storage facility.. ..

So it was perfectly clear to me that Rossi's claim of a megawatt within months was utter bollox.

1MW of heat output however is plausible.
Effectively this means that the electrical power would be a fraction of this like a conventional nuclear reactor.

I'd also like to know if he intends to build one massive core or many smaller ones.
This makes a large difference to the planning required, as 1000 1kW units would take up a larger area but not need a tall building.

Also when he says it is a 1MW plant, he might be referring to the potential output *if run at maximum power* i.e. most of the time it would be running at a fraction of this due to thermal limitations.

All in all, his claims shouldn't be discounted just yet but I'd like to see at least a basic business plan which covers the issues I have mentioned.

Yes Bjorn I read your comments, and under normal circumstances the post should be removed.
However if the invention was a 90% efficient solar cell then methinks Nature would have it as front page news.
