Good time to see asteroid 4 Vesta

While the Dawn space probe sends close-up pictures and movies of the brightest asteroid , Vesta is just past opposition and well placed for observers on Earth.
I just went out & easily found it with binoculars for the first time in years. At magnitude 5.7 it should be visible without optical aid in really dark skies. But the waxing Moon will be closer each night until it passes Vesta around the 13th of this month. And Vesta is pretty far south of the equator this time. Here is one link with a finder chart:
