Hello!
I'm looking at modifying a computer fan to use the motor out of it. What arrangement of magnets should I use? The motor has four coils so I assume that it's a four pole motor. I'm planning on arranging rectangular neodymium magnets on a ring for the rotor. What would be the best number of magnets to use and how should I arrange the poles? Thank you! Jesse

I'm hoping to build a water pump for a computer cooling system. Having a brush-less design will allow me to completely seal the rotor and impeller and prevent any leakage. I was thinking that modifying a fan motor would be the easiest, but looking through the site you provided I think I'll try the type that are used in floppy drives. It looks easy enough to build from scratch.

You don't need to worry about sealing the motor, i've seen many homebrewers using them as - is to propel underwater robots. The problem is not the sealing, is the corrosion from the fluid that they are sinked.
