Hi, I am currently attempting to build a project where I get a PDA to talk to my PICAXE microcontroller through its infra-red port. There are two way I could do this. I already have a book detailing how to use some kind of protocol that PDAs are familliar with, however there is a much simpler way that would involve less programming on the microcontroller side, which is to get to PDA to transmit normal, TV remote signals.
Does anyone know of pda brands this is possible with (to send TV remote signals from their infra-red ports)? (and how easy it is to program them)

I know that I've seen premade software for my Zaurus and also for Palms that let you use them as a TV remote. But beware, they don't offer as long of a range as a normal remote.

The best way seems to be to use the sound output of the device to drive an IR LED through a resistor. Just play the correct .wav file and a signal is sent.
