mot diodes in guitar amp rectifier

I have an amp with two diodes, one burned out somehow and I have installed a mot diode, I don't have two mot diodes so I am using the mismatched pair. I have no idea what kind of diode the other one is, it is brass looking tho. Maybe it is germanium. Is the mot diode ok to use? The rectified ht supply is about 500v with no load. Im having a weird problem still and tho my power supply is quiet and the voltages are in spec ok now, I wonder if it is because of this diode I put in or something else. Any help comments or feedback would be appreciated,

a brass looking diode? sounds weird. any sort of part number on it so you could look it up? mot diodes have a pretty low current rating and i doubt they are very fast. if you can't identify exactly what kind of diodes you need, pick up a couple uf4007's from digikey, they're super fast and rated for 1000v@1A (and they're cheap)

nope no part number on them at all. Looks like the diode in the picture on wiki, here

The MO diode has >10V voltage drop, if your amp has a centertapped transformer with two diode rectifier, better use two 1N4007's in series.

I picked up some uf4007 diodes and they are workingg fine, my amp is humming now tho so I still have some troubleshooting to do. I suspect weak filter caps. Thank you guys for the recomendation on the part number, its a good thing I wrote it down as the guy behind the counter would have had no idea what diode to suggest but he was able to quickly cross reference these to his brand. $0.50 each I got some extras... Thanks!
