I have been looking like a madman trying to get my hands on a 1:10 step-up transformer (input 12V@1A square pulsed DC) which is capable to deal with frequencies from 1kHz -50kHz (if possible without or minimal distortions of the signal).

Questions:
Is it doable? If so, can I purchase a complete device from somewhere - if not, what material do I have to use for the core/magnet wire and what aspects do I have to take into consideration when building one myself.

Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

Why not just use an amplifier with a voltage input of the required voltage?

you could try a low voltage landscape lighting transformer hooked up backwards, they are 10:1 and not rectfied. I have no idea if it would work at 50 kilohertz

One cool way in my opinion if you really wanted to build something, a single vaccuum tube and a couple resistors could do it,

you put the amount of volts you want to be able to get out on the plate and the pulsed dc on the screen grid modulates the current which is converted to voltage becouse of the varying voltage drop the resistor causes, but as I am just learning I maybe am not explaning it right

you may also just ground the grid and drive the cathode with your pulsed dc and take the output from the plate before the resistor I believe, as it works better with high frequencies because there is no miller capacitance effect in this configuration, the tube takes more signal to drive this way but since you have 1amp of driving current you said that would be plenty I would think, sorry if I sound confusing

Old TV LOPT maybe? I have a bunch of old style ones without diodes if you need some.

For 50 kHz ferrite is a good core material
for a transformer you want minimal leakage inductance/flux/airgap
a large (core area) x (number of turns) is required at low frequency
a low (number of secondary turns) is required at high frequency.
The primary wire should be about 1mm o.d.
and the secondary wire would be 0.315mm o.d.
12V:120V is low voltage, no special insulation requirements.
The main challenge here is 12V, 1A @ 1kHz with minimal distortion
which requires quite a large core, about ETD49 size.
