Yesterday, my sister though it would be a good idea to plug an 8.4V nominal charger into the 5V DC in port of her digital camera. It gives low battery blinks( one green, then ten red) when powered up without any external power, but will not respond or charge when powered by USB, or 5V.
Any idea if this is salvageable? I do not have a second battery or an external battery charger.

Well, I charged the battery with my LeafLab Maple microcontroller, and now it works. Now, when charging, it stays green, then flashes red 3 times, then nothing. It still functions normally, but won't connect with USB. The camera is usable, I just need to an external charger (that the battery goes into), and an SD Card reader.
