From a superconductor magnet article:
Persistent mode: An alternate operating mode, once the magnet has been energized, is to short-circuit the windings with a piece of superconductor. The windings become a closed superconducting loop, the power supply can be turned off, and persistent currents will flow for months, preserving the magnetic field. The advantage of this persistent mode is that stability of the magnetic field is better than is achievable with the best power supplies, and no energy is needed to power the windings.
Now with a maglev track made with room temp superconductors the same could be applied. The track could be charged up and use little energy after the first charge, making the train very efficient.
The bottom of the train itself could be another RTC, with diamagnetic levitation keeping the thing afloat.
