I think that the biggest cap bank on 4HV was built from FastMHz. Total stored energy : 24 KJ

11.006mF at who knows what voltage tongue
1308762407 599 FT118305 Capacitance

At these energies magnetic forces are real pain... i will make thread at projects section soon with complete story of this bank.

What has happened so far:

- Killed 2 capacitors. Mechanical damage, magnetic forces deformed busbars and.. thankfully i have spare caps and busbars are reworked too
- Destroyed ceiling ccfl fixture with ring launcher
- Beer can makes loud bang when it gets hit at 49.5kJ 104.8kA discharge
- My pneumatic switch blew up
- 4 paralled 2 meter long 35mm^2 copper cables (cables from bank to load) can be torn off from crimped cable connectors and tossed accross the room at 50kJ

Scary. And FUN! shades

I can get 10 times more energy from a chocolate bar.
You are , as the Ents would say, being too hasty.

cheesey

Point taken. But i must say that when crapload of electrical energy is turned into noise and molten metal in 680µs is far more spectacular to watch than my body converting chocolate bar to smelly fart (takes hours)

That was definitely my all-time favorite comeback to a "project coolness" challenge. Nice work.

That video really made me laugh. Maybe next time you need to attach them better or something to they don't go flying around. You probably had more energy in the flying cables than the projectile itself. tongue

Cool vid, but just for the record you might want to try eating the chocolate rather than putting it where the sun doesn't shine. Still, I'm glad you decided not to post a video of that.
