DVD Amplifier for my Car :D

 		So my friends dad gave me this beautiful dvd player because he said it was broken. The only thing I found that was wrong with it is the dvd drive won't open or close. It has a 6 channel amp built in with a subwoofer output and since I already have a nice dvd player I thought I would install it into my car for some added sound :D

I would love to run it right off the battery so I can take out the beefy transformer but I think that getting a DC to AC converter would be much simpler. Thoughts?

Also, will it still work if I take out the dvd drive or is that a bad idea?

EDIT: I guess i'll just figure it out on my own haha
