10kv electric fence

 		I had to repair the transformer for my electric fence. It is a pulse transformer for a low impedance fence. Is there anything special about these transformers for this use? It seems they have a lot of ferrite laminations. Is this to prevent saturation at the high voltages they put out for the few uS?
