Hi, you might have seen that I just got a power supply, if not heres the pics
It uses a cute little variac inside to control the voltage & current, which is all fine and dandy... but it's limited to 1 A (think I can get it to 2.5 with a single unit, but I want moar power) So I was wondering, since they should be right in phase with each other if I get two, could I parallel them to double the available current? Would I need some sort of choke to prevent one from overpowering the other or something, or would a good mechanical connection between the two to keep them at the same voltage work? (I think I can pull that off)

You'd need a mechanical connection, otherwise you'll have exactly that problem and things will get really hot.
Honestly you'd be better off just getting a bigger variac and leaving that unit as-is. Lots can be done with a little 1A unit and larger standalone ones aren't too hard to find.

OK, sounds good... but now I have 3 of these... If I find some suitable choke transformers I'll mess with it, if not I'll just use them as is, maybe sell one.
