Hey guys i haven't been here for quite a while. A few years back i started but never completed a ruby laser project with a pretty hefty flashlamp and rod. I will get back to it some day, but would like to make a small flashlamp pumped Ruby or Yag laser that is battery powered and hand or at least small in the mean time to fullfill my desire for a flashlamp driven unit, aka help me hold out untill buget and time allows resuming my original big project! I really would like a Hughes Rangefinder Ruby Assmbly but can't come across one. SO the SSY-1 Yag....the question is with it's Q-Switch and just the 15 Joules input from it's original PFN Cap, will it pop baloons from across the room? I have a DPSS burning pen (green) but allllways have wanted a flashlamp pumped SS laser...
