since i have an affinity for the antique, i have a crap load of electron tubes. They are all still in storage at my dads but i did come across a pair of 6SJ7GT. it is my understanding that they are class A amplifier tubes?
I know very little of how to integrate tubes into projects, and honestly have no idea where to start. can any one offer a refrence book or site to which i can get oriented?

I'm not into vacuum tubes much, but I've been wanting to try a vaccum tube x-ray machine for a while. I have a link somewhere, I'll post it when I find it....
Edit:
There you go. Looks like you could use a TC for a power supply if you have one, instead of an Oudin coil...

Those tubes are not really good for anything, unless you want to tube based radio, or perhaps a tube based headphone amp...
With a plate dissipation of 2.5w, you are not going to be able to power much anything with it, and with it's 250v max voltage you are not going to get anywhere near the necessary voltage to make x-rays.

Right! I'm looking at my RCA data book right now and the uses would be limited to very low power audio. One would make a very nice headphone amp, or you could use them for a high-end amp for your computer speakers! That would be a cool project. My old comp speakers that died on me had a chip that was rated for 2W and it had quite a bit of oomph.
X ray is better suited to a rectifier like a 1B3,1K3 or such.

Fender used the 6SJ7 with a 6V6 final drive for one of their guitar amplifiers (called the Champ Amp). A schematic of the Fender Champ Amp may be found here.
