so if you suround a subcritical mass plutonium core with tungsten brick it will fission and release radiation? saw it form "1000s ways to die" on Spike TV yesterday, where a terrorist trying to make a nuke accidentally dropped a tungsten brick and surrounded 4 side of the plutonium core.

I thought it was a nuclear scientist who later died, but who saved the lives of the other workers in the room.
Apparently that same demon core (which was later used in a bomb test) was involved in another fatal accident. I don't remember the details offhand, but I'll look it up later.

There were two scientists killed by the same core during careless experiments. There's a number of good articles about it, Wikipedia has one that covers the incidents.

Yup, I saw that episode too but I'm not too sure with the validity of the entire incident due to the lack of sources and the difficulty of obtaining a sub-critical mass of plutonium core.
It almost makes me wonder if the show just modified the incident with Louis Slotin by replacing him with a terrorist to make it more interesting for viewers.

Yes, that's very probably what they did. The "Demon Core" was involved in two criticality accidents, the first one with a tungsten brick and the second (the Louis Slotin incident) with a beryllium reflector. After the second accident it was used in a nuclear bomb test, where apparently it went off better than expected, having warmed up by frying a few scientists.
The idea behind the experiment (accident, rather) is that a neutron reflector makes the critical mass smaller. Exactly how much smaller had to be found out by experiment. Or maybe Slotin just enjoyed playing with the ultimate big boy's toy.
wrote ... The test was known as "tickling the dragon's tail" for its extreme risk, and was notoriously unforgiving of even the smallest mistake; many scientists refused to perform the test, but Slotin (who was given to bravado) became the local expert, performing the test almost a dozen separate times, often in his trademark bluejeans and cowboy boots in front of a roomful of observers. Enrico Fermi reportedly told Slotin and others they would be "dead within a year" if they continued performing it.
