I'm stuck on how long my pulse time should be on the first stage...really second stage, because the first is what pushes my projectile out of my ammo clip. The "injector" stage accelerates the projectile at roughly 6ft/sec.. that is if i did berry's horizontal speed measurement correctly. What I want to know is
Do you want the pulse time in Milliseconds of the second stage coil to be as close as possible to the time it takes the projectile to go from the beginning of the second stage coil to the middle? DO I EVEN MAKE SENSE?
Does it not really matter, only that the pulse time cant any longer that what it would take for the projectile to move to the center of the coil?
OR
Should I just go for power and have a very short but strong pulse?
If this does not make sense sorry, and any help would be greatly appreciated:-D

It makes sense. The issue with trying to fix the pulse length is figuring out how long it should be. If you're using your 6 m/s as the speed and the distance from the beginning to the middle of the coil to figure out the time, your pulse will be too long. This is because the speed changes as the projectile is pulled in. I'd make the pulse as short as possible for your switch and then slowly increase it until your velocity peaks. You can do this by making the coil smaller until it's peak current as simulated in barry's sims gets to about the limit of your switch.
