Question About LTSpice

I don't know much about LTSpice, but apparently there are some here who are familiar with it, so maybe someone knows:

Does it have a spark gap model built-in or is there a spark gap macro or something available for it anywhere?

When selecting a component; in the Misc directory, there is a component called neonbulb. After you place it, right click on it and you can adjust various parameters. The ones I see are Vstrike, Vhold, Zon, Ihold, and Tau. By adjusting those values, you could possibly make it into a passable spark gap for whatever you're doing.

I have never known LTSpice to get picky about currents in things... so I wouldn't imagine it'll would give you any grief about running 5000 amps through that "neon" bulb ;)

I'd guess it's the time constant of ion recombination or whatever.

So the tau as modeled is an RC turn-on/turn-off time constant, probably describing ion recombination as Steve said. And if I'm reading it correctly there appears to be a fixed 100MEG in series with Zon, which seems strange, but I don't usually parse netlists in my head so give a read through for yourself as well.
