a good friend of mine donated 12 z570m tubes and I decided that it is finally time to realize one of my all time dreams - build a Nixie clock. Nothing special - it is controlled by pic16f877A and it has a simple boost converter for the B+. Here some pics - hope you like it guys. Cheers

Trying to build one at the moment.
It appears that the MMBTA42 is the best bet for compact Nixie clocks, as these can be placed on a board under each tube which makes the whole assembly nice and compact.

I've used the MPSA42 in many of my clocks. There's also a Toshiba octal HV transistor array that I've used several times with success. It's nice because if you flip it around so pin 1 is in the opposite direction, you can place it almost right next to a 74HC595 and the connections are straight through.
