Im building a more powerful version of this http://bobdavis321.blogspot.com/2008/12/new-can-crusher-washer-launcher.html and I was wondering if its better to focus more on making a high current or high voltage to launch a washer or can the optimal height. For example a 90,000 volt power supply run at a few micro amps.
also I'm guessing a CW multiplier lowers the amps of your input source. is that true?
just one more question, What is the advantage of using larger capacity capacitor in a CW multiplier? Thanks in advance

90KV@ a few uA probably won't charge any capacitors, as the losses from corona, etc will be greater than your charge current. By conservation of energy, a CW will decrease your current. Big stage capacitances will lower the voltage drop and ripple of your CW. Pulse power is best done with, well, pulse capacitors.

Yeah, it's the amps that increase the magnetic field, not the volts. Higher voltage will push more current into an identical coil, and will also have a much faster pulse. You want as much current and as fast a pulse as possible. On the order of 1-10kA at a few thousands volts will probably be the limit of a hobby setup.
