How has no one else found this? I was searching the net and came across it

Link2

It states in the Description "A typical application can charge a 1000μF capacitor to 500V in less than one second."

That sounds really good to me...

What are other people opinions on this? It seems to good to be true...

EDIT! I found more this chip is smaller and says it "Charges 220µF to 320V in 3.7 Seconds from 5V"

Link2

The main reason is because I found this TINY 1:12 SMT Flyback Transformer thats supposed to go with the above circuit

I think the 1000 uF in under a second is with this chip driving an external MOSFET witch isn't that amazing. The great thing is, however, that it is all integrated into a single package. There are a few of these controllers out there. They're mostly designed for use in charging a digital camera flash.

MArked One: If you get them I'd love to hear how they go :)

500v 1000uf in under a second is crazy fast to me :S and the size of the flybacks is amazing, maybe I'm just not as experienced with this stuff though...

I've done 2 charger circuits using Linear Tech ICs, I used the LT3750 and LT3468. Another Mantis has also made a succesful circuit using the LT3750 here: Link2 along with my fail. Robert Wilsford has used the LT3751 in this coilgun: Link2

Note that the second charger isn't much faster than a DCC (Disposable Camera Circuit) Although it is almost definitely faster. Also the IC is very small and difficult to solder by hand

why not just coil your own flyback transformer to have a 400v secondary and drive it with a mini ZVS flyback driver?

why not build a microprocessor controlled 3-axis image recognition, targeting and aiming system while you're at it, too?

The easiest and fastest charging system is a cheap 110v-to-220v step-up transformer and diode bridge. Connect these two parts, plug it in the wall and you're done.

Cheers, Barry

Ok guys it was just a find :)

I'm going to try making a ZVS Flyback charger once I get some money to order the parts or maybe a boost converter first, I need to learn how to make circuits and not sure which to start with. I got plenty of flybacks and already removed the core from one without much damage.

I found this thinking it looked like a really fast charge thats all, I guess I was wrong.

Barry: I've only made portable chargers, and I live in Australia, our wall outlet is 240volts. So I'll just stick with portable :)
