Another question that has been plaguing me on this induction heater project. What are good connectors for 2 and 3 pin ICs such as the FDH44N50 MOSFET or some of the smaller diodes?

I need to run short leads from the drivers to the MOSFETs but the drain will have high voltage and current, so I don't think I can solder it directly to the circuit board. I can solder leads from the board to the MOSFET pins but then if the MOSFET burns out, I have to desolder and resolder the new components. I'm wondering if there are MOLEX connectors that would work for this type of application?

well first, MOSFETS are not IC's. Second, many use the screw terminal type of attachment.

And with the FDH44N50 MOSFET, youll be generating BooKoo heat buddy (0.12 ohms)!

The last 4 posts were utterly useless, can it.

Large transistors are usually soldered directly into the circuit. Some people use screw terminal blocks to plug them in for easy replacement, for instance the green ones made by Phoenix Contact. But to me that's like bringing beer to a BMX race. You're planning to get knocked out.

All of the leads in these high frequency circuits need to be kept as short and thick as possible, but the FETs also need bolted to large heatsinks. Those are conflicting objectives which most hobbyists suck at trading off. Don't be one of them.

What is the minimum gauge wire I should be using for this stuff? Stranded or solid make any difference?

That depends on how much current you plan on pushing through it. More amps = thicker wire.

Solid wire or stranded, it makes nearly no difference. One is just more flexible than the other.

On the other hand, litz wire is best for high frequency stuff as it has a lower AC resistance.
