Hey,
As I get more into this induction heater that I'm building (a variation of Iamsmooth's system) I'm wanting to find software with which I can draw the modified schematics, potential use for laying out a PCB, and do circuit simulation.
I've heard many recommendations for Eagle, and LTSpice, and Simetrix. I know I can do schematics and board lay-out with Eagle. I know I can do simulation (and assuming schematics) with either LTSpice or Simetrix. Just wondering if I an do all three and not have to learn multiple software...

I tried about half a dozen different packages for schematic and PCB layout work and finally settled on KiCAD. Like the rest, it has its quirks, but once you get the hang of it, it's superb, and completely free, not crippled like every other free package I tried. I've made dozens of boards with it and have yet to encounter something it can't do. I haven't dug into simulation yet but I hear good things about LTSpice, also free.

Rs Components has an open source program called DesignSpark (I think). Im not sure if it does spice type simulation. It might just be for schematics and layout. However, it is unrestricted.

I think it's "free" because it comes with a database of components available from RS. Farnell recently bought Eagle for the same reason.
Kicad is the only electronic design software I know of that is actually free and open source, as opposed to being a giveaway tool tied to some PCB or component vendor and used to sell their wares. I've never tried it, but I know of at least one commercial product whose PCB was done with it.
I do however use gerbv a lot, another handy tool from the Gnu EDA project.
