Hey guys, I bought an O-scope off of ebay, an old Tektronix 2213 60 mhz oscilloscope. The guy was selling it for parts and broken, because the trace didn't reach all the way across the screen.
Opening up the scope, i found it was surprisingly clean, no dust, or anything, only thing i could see that upset me was a slightly bad soldering job on a 8 pin dip chip. I played around with the oscilloscope, turning some pots, and eventually, I managed to find the one that makes the trace wider! Fixed that, then had a triggering issue. Looked around, played with some more pots, nothing. Flipped a switch, voila, fixed. Only thing that could be considered "wrong" with the scope now, is the power supply unit emits a medium frequency hum, either 60 hz or higher, I'm not sure. And, whenever you turn off the power the flyback makes a squeaking dying sound. Is this normal? Fixable? Thanks!
