A conversation in the chat room got me wondering about this. I'm an aviator in the US Air Force, and to date, I've spent 113 days, 3 hours, and 12 minutes at an altitude of approximately 30,000 feet. That's 2715.2 hours. If I understand my physics properly, this should mean that I actually aged less than those at sea level over the same 6 year period. I know this is a matter of a fraction of a second, but I'm curious just how long it is. If speed is also a factor (I seem to recall it is) my average actual speed would have been about 500kts (ground speed). Anybody able to do the math?
Hey, if I stay up there long enough, maybe the decelerated aging will offset the increased radiation exposure.
