Can anyone tell me anything about microwave oven protection diodes?
Can they be used for anything else?
A lot of microwave ovens seem to have these, they are connected across the capacitor. Apparently they are designed to blow if the rectifier diode (voltage doubler diode) blows, thereby blowing the fuse and preventing the transformer from burning out (from what I've 'gleaned' from googling).
They have a shematic on them showing two diodes cathode to cathode, one larger than the other. The one I have is part number: 2X062H.
Do they have any use in other circuits, or should I just bin it?

Back to back series diodes protect a circuit from bidirectional transient threats, by clipping off peaks above and below what are called their clamping voltages, which are determined at their point of manufacture. They can be either symmetrical, clipping negative and positive transients at equal voltages, or asymmetrical, where the positive and negative going transients are clipped at different voltage levels.
