Why is my ZVS driver making high pitched arcs?

I had good success making various types of ZVS drivers awhile ago until then I decided to make an more compact one with all the components and flyback built onto a veroboard (except the power supply). After I built the driver and tested it, everything works out fine except the arcs it produces makes an very loud squeaking noise! suprised

What is causing my ZVS driver to produce high pitch arcs and more importantly, how do I prevent it? I don't mind squeaking arcs but not for my compact ZVS driver, it makes it sound much scarier than it looks dead

Here is an pic of my driver

I will appreciate any help smile

I don't see a pic?

And is there an air gap in the flyback?

Odd, I can still see the picture..? Heres a link to it: Link2

And yes, there is an air gap in the flyback.

I would hazzard a guess and say its because you are running it at an auible frequency. Although I could be wrong.
Its quite amusing when this friend of mine visist me and I show him some flyback arcs he always starts complaining about the noise but I cant hear a thing, supose I'm "deaf" to that particular frequency range or something.

I second GluD's theory.

And why do you upload images as a PDF?

I put a loop of wire around the flyback core and connected it to my multimeter to measure the frequency of my ZVS driver.

When there is no load, the freq is 30KHz. When the arc strikes, the freq varies around 30KHZ. Now for the odd part, the frequency changes as i stretch the arc. The lowest frequency (around 10KHz) is when the arc is half way stretched, then the frequency goes back up until the arc breaks. confused

Grenadier, I upload images as PDF because it is the only file i can use to dramatically reduce the file size of the image without distorting the quality too much and be able to upload them onto 4hv quickly. I have crap internet connection and I don't want to wait 10 - 20 minutes to upload a proper photo. smile

EDIT: Nevermind, I found out the problem. It was the inductor, a very crappy inductor I randomly took out of my junk box to use it for the driver and hoped for the best. I have replaced the inductor with a better one and now my ZVS driver works like charm.
