Hello, a few weeks back flybacks started to catch my attention and i've been messing a abit around with it and gotten the hang of simple drivers, currently have a single transistor feedback driver hooked to a CRT monitor flyback making a pretty 4cm spark, or well it did until i fed it a bit too much voltage and internal arc-overs crippled the secondary..
Anyhow, i was cleaning my apartment today and found a transformer from a LCD inverter, from a 15" labtop screen and thought to myself "that might work?" so, i hooked it up to the flyback driver, with a 9 winding primary and 5 winding feedback just to test out the idea and i actually got a pretty good result all things considering, 2mm arc that could be stretched to about 5-6mm with the limitations being that the transformers simply isn't insulated to any mentionable degree..
So, i just thought i'd share ^_^, in my openion it's an interesting idea with a mini-flyback, with some handy fingers i think driver+transformer could be packed to a 6xcm4cmx1cm package and the arc would be considerably higher with some epoxy for insulation..
Anyhow, here goes, please keep in mind it was an idea that just came to mind and i just grapped whatever would achieve results the fastest :p.
