Hey Guys,
this is my first Thread so i want to say... Hello@ all, I am Chris.

I am searching for a high voltage LiPo charger for an electric racing car.

We will have to charge a LiPo battery (4S) with about 360V.
We are using following cells:
Link2

So the charger I am looking for needs:

CC/CV

Input Voltage: 230V+ (400V would be better)
Output Voltage: 400V
Output Current: 10A (but 16 amps would be nice)

It would be helpful if someone could post some links or names of companys which are producing such chargers.

Thanks a lot!

Chris

Do you mean something like this? Link2

Another company I know of is Manzanita Micro: Link2

These aren't cheap of course, but nothing else about building a racing EV will be cheap either.

Am I missing something, because you said 4S which implies 4 series cells, and they're 3.7V. 4*3.7V doesn't add up to 360V.

Hi Chris,

welcome to 4HV.

I bought recently a hefty 230V/415V auto-transformer for plasma electrolysis experiments, and perhaps something like it it might solve your problem too:

Thanks for your answers...

@ Steve... yes I said something like this!
The BMS we will usw is from Manzanita too and maybe we will use the chargers from them but maybe we find another (better) one. The price is not the important thing xD
The charger from currentways looks very interesting. Do you have more examples like that?! :o)

4 cells (parallel) = one Pack = 3,7V
95 Packs we will use in series = 351V

4s was wrong sry for that

@Mary
this is only a transformer, not a charger for LiPo´s
I don´t think this will help us xD

I pointed you towards the 415V transformers because it seemed to me extremely unlikely that you would ever find a 400V 16A battery charger, so you'd have to make your own.

I'm no expert but I thought that balancing charges between cells is very important, how is it done in the traction world?

That's what the "BMS" is for: Link2

If it were me, I'd buy the charger from Manzanita too. Doesn't it need to talk to the BMS through some proprietary serial bus? Getting kit from two different manufacturers to play together could be a major headache.

I'm reading between the lines, that you're in Europe and want a charger that can accept 400V 3-phase supply, and the Manzanita ones don't do that. I'm not sure if you can even connect three of them in star to a 3-phase supply with neutral: they might be non-isolated.
