should the winding in the inductor get hotter than 100 degrees celcius? it has 38 turns of 0.9mm insulated copper wire from an AC fan motor I was using the ZVS driver to boil some water in a testube :D it was running 24 volts, i have no idea how much current it is taking, but im pretty sure its over 10A (not to imply that i tried measuring it with a multimeter and blew it up ) i was surprised by how fast it brought room temperature water to a violent boil in less than 60 seconds (and yes i know, its not a lot of water but still) anyways, whats the thickness of wire do you guys suggest for the inductor windings. also, how do i measure inductance???

check your circuit, that doesnt sound right ! if you dont have a DMM, o-scope, then get them, but for now you can use the 32V ATC automotive fuses to see what your battery or DC input current is.
what is that rod you put in the test tube? if your using this with out a load (other than the "work coil") maybe this is normal operation but i dont know, is the copper coil as hot as the test tube? if so how do you now simple resistence isnt the cause of the heating?
