Hi all. This card is made by Sandisk. Unfortunately its owner did not back up any of the photos and the card is getting very hot when plugged into a card reader.
Any ideas? I was thinking along the lines of maybe the voltage regulator is fried, so running it on 1.8V with pull-ups might be enough to get the data off.

Seems the chip is actually cracked. Also I measured virtually a direct short on the Vcc pins...
doh! never mind.

Heads up:- Seems some enterprising little scam artists have been reprogramming 512MB Transflashes to emulate 2GB and larger. Watch out for this... Grr. I now have a 2GB toothpick :( :(
