Hey guys, i was thinking....

Lets make a thread on not so well known ICs that are still very useful!

Any you submit, il add up on a list here :)

Single chip offline power supply controllers:
The TOP233YN, a 30 - 50W Offline Switcher
The TOP246YN, a 90 - 125W version of the above

Regulators:

The LM2578, a 2 - 40v 750mA max Switching Regulator

The LM2576, a 3A step-down Switching Regulator
The LM2676, a 3A step-down Switching Regulator
(both unisolated DC-DC converter IC's but the difference's are that the LM2676 has an internal FET switch and runs at 260khz, whilst the LM2576 uses an NPN transistor switch and runs at 52khz. Both are rated for 3 amps switch current)

PMW/ SMPS Controllers:
The KA3525 a SMPS Controller
The TL494 the ever famous PWM IC

Function Generators:
The XR2206 Monolithic Function Gen, range of 0.01Hz to more than 1MHz.
The ICL8038 Waveform Gen/ VCO, range of 0.001Hz to more than 300kHz
The MAX038 HF Waveform Generator (40MHz max)

Oscillators:
The LTC1799 1kHz to 33MHz Resistor Set SOT-23 Oscillator

Amplifiers:
A MAR-6 DC-2GHz monolithic amplifier

Other:
The LM1881 Video Sync Seperator
The NE564 50 MHz Phase-locked loop

Well here is one of my favorites seems to be better than The TL494
KA3525 SMPS Controller Link2 .

I have a question who elts has an over whelming amount of Quad Op Amps from DE soldering old used circuit boards.

I can not seem to find any application Notes but with a little bit of searching you could find all the information you would need on Google. Link2

MAR-6+

DC-2GHz monolithic amplifier. Link2,d.d2k

This is a super little three-terminal Darlington RF amplifier that is very easy to set up and get good results from. It's cheap too!

NE564: high frequency (50 MHz) PLL. May be useful for some HF SSTCs, where the standard 4046 no longer works well.

LM2578.

They're great for small battery powered buck/boost converters. Works even for two regular alkaline batteries!
