I seem to recall reading that ad hoc networks like a MANET etc are currently very difficult to impossible to implement in real world situations, there are lots of technical problems, there have been a few claims by some that they have solved these problems, but havnt actually rather just ignored them or covered them up.
Put the entire internet on a huge memory storage in a large room. It'd be torture to have to hear Rebecca Black's voice every time I send something across the internet.
