Perhaps something like this project will work:
Link2

If your school is part of MSAA than the compilers should be available from the CS department.

Windows OS & MacOS can be "problematic" for control systems as they were not designed for this purpose.
In order to gain simple direct hardware access permissions it is usually better to go with Debian/Ubuntu linux, an RTLinux patched uClinux, freeRTOS, or VXworks (not free).

Unfortunately, 14 days is likely too short a time to build and test a flight control system.

I dont need a whole lot, just a simple replacement for the iphone, ipad, droid controller as the AR.Drone has no conventional or native controller like every other flying RC device ive ever used. others claim to have the ability to access all the basic functionality through their laptops.

Ive already tried the version carbon rod you suggest but it wont connect or do anything else once i open it.

Windows.AR doesnt do anything either totally craps out on this computer, yet no one else has any on the problems i describe like the "connection time out" messsage, so i think the failure is in my laptop. I dont have any other comps that use win7 and i guess the SDK's so far are only for win7.

i dont own an iThing either...

Things to try:
* Setup Windows 7 pro to emulate an XP mode wrapper
* Run the compiled program from outside the IDE (VS debug mode will break some DLL wrappers for hardware access.)
* copy missing DLL into the same directory as the compiled program and execute in host OS
* Setup a wireless router to relay command terminal packets (IPv4 only )
* Check that firewalls like McAfee Antivirus are not quietly interfering
* Use Wireshark to check packet traffic
* Ask local technical people in your school for assistance setting up the networking

Cheers,
Rod
