I'm making a program that allows me to store or retrieve part numbers but I can't figure out how to make variables in if statements = strings, such as "start == "enter""

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated as it stumped both me and my teacher :P

BTW, I have a program I made that tracks parts I have (part numbers, digikey part numbers, location, quanitity, disc). I use it for SMT parts as I have thousands. I will upload it once I get it off the other computer.

I finished the program! It all works except I can't figure out how to save the text file before it's closed because once I rerun the program it writes over everything I have entered previously. Project1: PartFile1:
