I have a similar one ,they are very cool hanging around ,I have use it for application ranging from controlling dc engine of a mig welder to heavy duty power control for solid state hv power supply (before I new what pwm mean)or controlling the loading voltage of a battery. they are cool low tech,versatile,and hardly breakable tool,they can be use a a dummy load for some experiment,what about a resistive ballast for a dc powered arc lamp,to control the current supply of a magnetron tube hot wire from 12 or 24 volt source,or an variable electric heater ,I like the idea of rewiring it as an inductor do...
