I just found the problem, I measured the circumference, not the diameter xD

So thats 250g 14 SWG coil, dimensions : 18mm inner, 35mm outer, 53mm length therefore 86uH and 44mOhms according to the simulator

Woah. That's a kind of low resistance, you'll need a nice capacitance in order to have a long enough pulse O.o

The really odd thing is that using my standard multimeter on the 200 setting for resistance, I get a reading of 0.5, is that 0.5 Ohms? Also, I have to take the other components into account, so it will probably end up being quite a bit more.

Yep, but the multimeter may not be accurate to more than 0.5Ohms??? Mine goes to 0.1.

It increments in 0.1 steps. I just touched the connections together and it still reads 0.5, it looks like it might be faulty, I guess I'll have to buy a new one unless someone can suggest something else.

Scratch enamel coating a bit more and try to make more surface be in contact.

Also consider that impedance of the coil is also going to "increase your resistance" in some way. Tried Barry's RLC sim for that purpose?

The enamel coating was completely scraped off on the area which I was talking about, but it still reads 0.5 with the leads touching each other. Is there any way of estimating impedance easily?

I can't think of a way of measuring it "Easily".

Could you give the exact coil properties please? This way i can make some calculations, plot them onto sims or whatever.

Thanks ;)

Could you list the properties and I'll see what I can give.

Thanks by the way cheesey

Oh, just inner/outer diameters, lenght and wire gauge. I don't want a compelte schematic of your gun XDD

Edit: Oh darn. You've already posted em XD

Nevermind then, I'll do some sims. Thanks anyway ;)

By the way, how did you do your simulations? With the characteristics you said, your coil has this:
