The aforementioned have contributed financially to the continuing triumph of 4hv.org. They are deserving of my most heartfelt thanks.
I wonder which igbt is best for high power SISG TC. The maximum allowed pulsed current should be about 1000 A. I've considered the following alternatives:
1. Parallel connection of 4 IRGPS60B120KDP IGBTs (1200 V, 240 A pulsed current in each SISG module. 2. One FUJI 1MBI600PX-140-01 module (1400 V, 1200 A pulsed current in each SISG module. I could get such modules for 40 Euros at ebay Germany.
The 2. alternative would be a bit cheaper. But there are also disadvantages of the FUJI module: Bigger parasitic capacitances. And these modules are used and I don't know how long. IGBT modules have a limited life time due to mechanical stress occuring when the temperature goes up and down.
Thus I tend to the 1. alternative. What's your opinion about it ?

I would have to lean towards brick.
I wouldn't worry about the capacitances. The worst that could happen from that is a parasitic oscillation that the diode clamps half way through it's oscillation. Also, turn on would have a little more loss due to the capacitances, but the package is built to handle that sort of thing.
The main issue I would consider would be the power dissipation. 595 watts is the best case scenario for each of the IRGPS units, so x4 would mean 2380. The brick alone is rated 4100 watts, almost double... Simply put, bricks take more abuse because of their design (lower thermal resistance- compare the datasheets).
A brick is a bunch of paralleled IGBTs, so you can *generally* compare the masses (sum of the paralleled vs single brick) to determine which is probably better. If you can save money and get more dissipation, I'd take that. Also, the slightly higher voltage could be helpful.
