A few days ago I started a thread, which has been ignored. I figured that the thread is indeed not pleasing to read. But I really want to get my doubts solved before building my first TC. So I simplify my questions:
1. I ran JavaTC and got the static gap LTR cap value 0.0095uF. I want to increase this value so that the inductance of the primary coil can be reduced and I can use fewer number of turns. Thus, the primary would not look so striking and more balanced and I don't need to spend too much on the copper tubing. How much bigger can the LTR cap be?
2. According to JavaTC the peak voltage across the primary cap is 21213V and the recommended cap rating is 53033V, but I've decided to take 30000V. Is it adequate?
3. My NST, rated 15kV 30mA (450W), is proper for 3" to 4" TCs, right? I decided to take 4" at first. But I think I better cut the cost and make it safer as this is my very first TC so I now decide to take 3". Is this a good decision?
4. Any recommendations on good, durable caps for my MMC?
5. Is the PFC cap connected to the output of the NST? Or the input?
6. Last question, will my TC work?
Please help me with these doubts! No need to answer all the questions, just answer the ones you know.

1. No, LTR is already the biggest cap you can use. If you think the primary looks too big, use thinner wire.
2. Probably
3. Maybe as long as you use thinner wire to stop the resonant frequency getting too high. The cost and danger level of a TC doesn't depend all that strongly on the secondary diameter anyway.
4. The CDE 942 series that everyone else uses.
5. The input. PFC is not necessary unless your system draws more current than your outlet can provide.

Thank you Steve! I'm thinking of using thinner wire for the primary but if the wire is too thin, is it able to withstand the current? And what is the minimum spacing between two adjacent turns?

That depends. How thick is your wire right now? As for minimum spacing, .5 inches is what i used for my primaries with a secondary approx the same size as yours, and more wattage.

Just decided to use wire of 0.1 inch diameter, with the spacing of 0.166 inch. Would that be OK?
0.1" DIA for a primary wire (which is about equivalent to 10 AWG) is fine for a 15kv/30mA primary, although most will typically use 1/4" OD copper tubing since its readily available and looks good too.
