That would be a Y capacitor, two capacitors, A-C and C-B in series. Used for AC filtering

This might be stretching the definition of a part, but here's a beer mug filled with neon. Below it I have a piece of foil charged to 2kv @ 150khz.

that is epic, but why is the handle glowing in the second pic?! Is it hollow or just a reflection?!

I wouldn't mind trying that in a semi-permanent way using whiskey bottles, to make some trippy effects. Where do you get the gas?

Can I have permission to use these photos on my website, Grenadier?

It's all about plasma, not quite up and running yet, still waiting for Walter to sort out the applets, or something.

Yes the handle is hollow and no I didn't make it. I don't remember where I got it, but it's freaking awesome.

And yeah, you can use the pics, but could you include a link somewhere to my site?

Here is another glass thing with gas in it, although this time it's not supposed to be there. :(

A Ken-Rad dual tetrode tube type 832. Not visible in the photo, it's also labelled "U.S. Army".

The original pic is quite large.

Now that would make one hell of a nightlight.

Here's a 900V voltage regulator.
