I am basically trying to build a power supply for another project later down the road. Right now what I need it to be able to put off at this point in time, is 350-410 volts at 20-35 amps. That is the most basic range anyway, though I was hoping to be able to reach higher outputs than that. I would have liked to be able to get that output with just the modified MOT, but with a mains of 110v, I am having a hard time doing so, unless there is something I am overlooking?

410V*35A = 14350 Watts

14350 Watts / 110 Volts = 130.45A

So to get 410 Volts at 35 Amps from the secondary, you'll need over 130 Amps through the primary!

Around these parts, standard houses get 100 amp service. My house gets 150A. So if you had 150A you could get what you want only by paralleling all your breakers, which is an absolutely awful idea.

You'd also need a utility pole transformer for that kind of power handling!

Your power levels aren't feasible, unless, like teravolt said, you are running a pulsed application.

What application requires these costly power supplies?

download ltspice, it is free, I use 11.1 volt@25Amps (LiPo cell) for my handheld bugzapper. here is my schematic for download shades

R1+R2 changed to 100 ohm get 10volt gate drive,
R5 is the "bug"
L4 is measured (my coil), it doesn't have to be exactly 187uH

play with the schematic before you build, and use good components when you build this thing, succes.

edit:

get an error while uploading *.asc file ???
