hmm, methinks Greenpeace will be annoyed. Wonder if they can be hacked to record a custom message? i think its in fact a fairly standard ISDxxxx chip with the record lines severed so its a matter of examining one under the microscope to see what the pinout is, followed by careful removal of the epoxy on a working unit to add the extra line.
(tip:- replace the resistor with a JFET+resistor and external input to make it bend!)
i did look into modifying a greetings card chip in this way, and if a simple circuit is used it can record at ultra low speed for several minutes until the time end LED lights then "play it back" at normal speed.
